The Forest

Gonaba – the charismatic Eriq Ebouaney (Lumumba), a French actor of Cameroonian descent – is an idealistic, French-educated school inspector in his African homeland. Disillusioned with his country's corrupt government, disturbed by its disenfranchisement of the indigenous pygmy population, he sets off on a righteous mission: to educate, and thus liberate from oppression, the Babingas pygmies. Instead, he gets an unexpected education of his own from a fiercely traditional people who see little need for what he has to offer, but have much that is seductive to offer in return.
