    The Golden Door

Tiring and tedious like a cross- Atlantic voyage in steerage, which I suppose was the point of this movie. One certainly experiences the bleakness and hardship that European peasantry faced coming to the America. The movie is nicely shot. What is lacking is any sort of character development and it would have been nice to see these peoples' lives develop beyond Ellis Island. Having survived the voyage I felt left in the lurch. Save this one for a dull night at home.
