The 1972 version of THE HEARTBREAK KID from Elaine May is far and away the better version than the newer version released a few years ago. Charles Grodin is hilarious as is his Jewish bride played by Elaine May's daughter, Jeannie Berlin which brought her an Oscar Nomination. It certainly was one of the best comedies of the year and gave veteran Eddie Albert another chance for an Oscar in the supporting role. If you enjoy Elaine May's wit and humour, this is the film for you.
