Comparing it with the first SpongeBob movie I hate to say this but Sponge Out of Water is a little bit of a letdown. Well it has a couple really funny parts and a few good lines it also has a lot of time in between those moments where I didn't laugh and I really wanted to. And unlike the last movie there was only ONE musical number and it wasn't that memorable. I can still remember and sing the songs from the first one. I did enjoy Bubbles the dolphin (mainly because he was both a reference to Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and the IT Crowd) but also he represents what makes SpongeBob funny: absurdity, surrealism, and randomness. I love SpongeBob and have been watching since it came on but I can only recommend this movie marginally. Hopefully you'll find more to love than I did.
