    The Taming of the Shrew

Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor in Franco Zeffirelli's sumptuous production of William Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew is one of the best adaptations of this classic play. Burton and Taylor who were married in real life add an intimacy to their parts not seen before in this play. Richard Burton who got his start on the British stage before he became a screen actor as the wily Petruchio plays his part for laughs and Elizabeth Taylor who holds her own against Burton adds new life to this ageless play. Taming of the Shrew is one of Shakespeares most accessable plays. Well worth seeing.
