This fictional life of the young boy called Jesus is a bit difficult to handle as many facts we know about this God made man tend to be inaccurate and frustrating for a Christian who understands his life through the Gospels. There is historical documentation in the movie, but the events, as a whole, play out like some melodrama surrounding the early years of the Holy Family. I don't believe Jesus was seven when found in the temple among the great teachers of law. From my biblical remembrance, he would have been about twelve. I dispute the entire theory of his half brother James which is not in keeping with Catholic teaching about Jesus, Mary and Joseph. I realize this account is not meant as literal truth. There is not that much written about the Christ after his boyhood. The Holy Gospel concentrates on the life of Jesus from the age of 30 till He is hung on the cross at 33. ? Much of the fictionalized material in 'The Young Messiah' is quite frankly absurd. I did not find the account compelling and concluded that this entire venture should never have been filmed.

I agree with you, I got it instantly right from the synopsis of the movie when it wrote about the bully event, contrary to the reality that Jesus was without sin and without error.
