    Voyage of Time: Life's Journey

Terence Malick's films such as "The Tree of Life" don't do too well at the box office as they are not action films but rather his musings about life and the universe, all in his complicated way of thinking! To make matters 'worse', his features are usually told in a long-winded fashion through which most moviegoers can't sit as the Malick films contain little or no action with the avoidance of garbage that can be seen in almost any film today! I have no such feelings for Malick considering him a genius of the first order, a man who has earned great respect in life and film! Let's get that clear straight away!

Now after Malick deliberations that probably started some 40 years ago," Voyage of Time" was eventually ready for Cannes in, I believe, 2014, then played TIFF to thunderous applause. The drama/documentary comes in an IMAX format narrated by Brad Pitt and another, slightly shorter version narrated by Kate Blanchett. The entire experience of the Malick feature will also be generally released as an hour and a half opus. How widely it will be released totally depends on the distributors' discretion. I doubt it will have a wide distribution.

As is usual, Malick has wanted with this doc/drama to celebrate the universe from time immortal to what we now see and feel as our universe. Terrence delves into everything, from the mightiest of matters to the most insignificant in our planet. A. O. Scott from The New York times called the film " a fusion of digital imagery and photographic imagination that seems natural and completely impossible." Now if that isn't the highest of praise, I don't know what is! As you watch the film, it is so sublime in nature, a feat impossible by a man's mind but rather a genius regaling us with startling memories revealed to his persona. It almost seems he has no camera at his disposal!

For this Malick feature, it is imperative to sit back and have the entire proceedings wash over you as Mr. Malick delves into our planetary past and a search for humanity's place in the future. A MUST SEE! I was going to go with a 9, but decided that this is just too important a work NOT TO GO ALL THE WAY UPWARD!
