If you have or ever get the chance to HEAR the Original War of the Worlds, starring the genius Orson Welles, even this Spielberg effort which packs a bit of a punch is absolutely no match to the brilliance and originality of that early 40's surprise radio gem that played live throughout America! I will have to give two thumbs down on this fair try which simply does not capture the utter MASS HYSTERIA of that evening sometime in the early forties.
