Recorded court sessions covering the 10th arrondissement in Paris, involving 169 people appearing before the formidable Madame Justice Michèle Bernard-Requin. Bernard-Roquin's combination of patient, rational concern and unyielding devotion to justice is balanced by an intimation that she is nevertheless an agent of a system that does not work, that creates inequality and then forces those on its margins to endless cycles of poverty and crime.
