I wasn't hyped about this, when I saw the previews I thought to myself "great another teen movie that glorifies violence, sex, and breaking the law" (see "American Gangster" and "Scarface" for reference) I'm glad that the movie had a bit more substance to it than that, and at times almost followed along like a 30's crime saga (not the comedic ones) I felt like the movie wanted to be the next big mob or gangster movie but didn't really make par for that, mostly because the emphasis seemed squarely on "the squad" and didn't add enough depth as to why I should care. Taking it for what it is, it's graphic in the sense that the characters are distinct and bold, it reminds me of a comic book-stylized kind of movie. I give it a generous 4/10. Recommended for free tv showings.
