Joseph L. Mankiewicz scored double gold for ' A LETTER TO THREE WIVES' in 1949 as writer and director, a feat that he would repeat in 1950 for 'All About Eve'. In LETTER, three women have received a missive telling them that one of the their husbands will be... so and so (can't ruin the plot) The three wives are Jeanne Crain, Linda Darnell and Ann Sothern who try and size up the situation in this deceptively simple but perfect movie! The film did not win best film of the year spoiling Mankiewicz's chance at an OSCAR HAT TRICK.
