The history in this Lyndon Baines Johnson based film is as accurate as can be concentrating on all the important movements of the 1960's especially his dealings with Martin Luther King Jr. It gives a deep understanding why the U. S. South presently stands much more on Republican roots than Democratic. Both lead roles by Cranston and Mackie are good and the supporting roles are in excellent hands. Yet all the drama is very familiar territory and thus doesn't pack the wallop it should.
