Delmer Daves was known for some very lush filming in no matter what genre he was working. In this western, which one really has to take with a grain of salt, hero Jimmy Stewart and Indian leader Jeff Chandler clash in battle royals in the standard Hollywood version of events of the good Americans and the notorious Indians from whom everything was stolen. This 1950 pic gives a nice chance to see Debra Paget on the screen, an actress who seemed to give up her career much too early. It's very careless with history as are most Hollywood western depictions so I can't give it a great score.
