I like my superheroes a little darker and more conflicted than the true-blue types like Captain America. Having said that, however, I will also say that this is about as good as a PG-rated comic book movie should be. GREAT performances (as usual, the villain gets all the best carpet-chewing stuff), a great historical look and feel (despite some anachronistic clangers that I found quite amusing) and some great action scenes that really did have me on the edge of my seat. The CGI effects that turned the buff, six-foot Chris Evans into a weeny shrimp were _outstanding_... although the revelation was muted in that we've all seen a zillion spoiler clips from the promo campaign (why do movie companies do this? Did they really think we wouldn't go see the movie? ) All in all, Captain America reminded me a lot of the first Indiana Jones movie... and I can hardly praise it more highly than that.
