Dallas Buyers Club serves not only as a showcase for some phenomenal acting by Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto, but also as a scathing indictment of not only the health care system's failure to properly treat the early victims of AIDS, but also the callousness of the FDA in preventing the afflicted from receiving drugs that could help. It is a raw and emotionally stirring film, one that may be too much for the mainstream. Hence its modest box office take so far, not to mention its lengthy road to the big screen. Yet it has an important story to tell and is brilliantly executed from start to finish. Should been seen if only to witness Leto's total transformation and McConaughey's powerful, career best performance.
