A startling 'film noir', perhaps one of the greatest if not the greatest during the 1940's. Billy Wilder hit a huge home run with insurance fraud drama that sees Barbara Stanwyk, blonde hair and all, as the perfect and scary 'femme fatale". Fred MacMurray has never been better in any film and good old Edward G. Robinson is a sharp insurance agent head who is able to piece everything together. It doesn't get much better than this.
