It's hard to be objective about this movie but I tried. My problem with this movie is that it takes away from the Hannibal that I loved in 'Silence of the Lambs'. Hannibal Rising does not do any justice to the character because it lowers his status to that of a monster that no one can relate to ( hence his aunt runs away from him at the end of the movie ) The Hannibal we got to know in 'Silence of the Lambs' seems so intriguing and interesting. We want to speak with him, we want a relationship with him. We care about his story. There is such a contrast between these two movies that I find it hard to appreciate 'Hannibal Rising' although I tried to keep an open mind.
