A wonderful comedy classic I have seen so many times over the years during the Christmas holidays. The plot is original, sincere, over-the-top, hilarious, and entertaining all at the same time. Macaulay Culkin acts brilliantly in his most famous role as Kevin McCallister – the brash kid trying to live as an adult while trying to take on two bumbling burglars. Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern are absolutely hysterical as the two blundering burglars! Catherine O’Hara, John Candy, etc… and the rest of the cast are great in their supporting roles. A special mention has to go out to Roberts Blossom - the older gentleman who befriends Kevin (Macaulay Culkin) I thought Roberts Blossom’s performance was genuine, heartfelt, and exceptional. I enjoyed the Christian elements of faith and forgiveness brought into the story – it certainly added to the richness of the film. Note also that the cinematography, directing, and editing are first rate. While there are several holes in the storyline, they are easy to overlook given the grandness of this production.
