This movie has a lot of great stuff in it... Will Smith, the vision of an empty, crumbling city... but unfortunately it doesn't quite add up to a great movie. The story was a big departure from the original Matheson novel and didn't have to be. In fact, having the evil creatures being mindless, hyperactive bogeymen took away from their dramatic effectiveness in my view. As usual, the producers spent multi-millions on acting talent and special effects, and a buck-and-a-half for the story development... Still, it's worth a look for what's there, and it looks fabulous on the IMAX screen. But it isn't going to change your life by a long shot.
