Knowing nothing of " l'Homme qu'on aimait trop.", I thought I was in for a comedy as Catherine Deneuve has done her fair share of comedies in her latter years and has proven a damn good comedic actress. In any case, this was a deadly serious drama by André Téchiné who both writes and directs his own scripts. It's a bit of a period piece, set in 1976, what I consider one of the ugliest periods for fashion. It also happens to be the year I was born.
