I found a refreshing uniqueness and authenticity to this film; so far away from the typical, mainstream pictures on the big screen. I love stories based on history; it makes the movie that much more intriguing. Excellent characterizations, plot, settings, costuming and script. The movie, for me, portrayed many facets of the Prohibition era and the involvement of the notorious Chicago mobsters, depicting a more thorough realization of this period in history. Although I had some idea of bootlegging back in the days, it was shocking to watch the very graphic and gory details that ensued during this infamous period. Scary and so realistic that it captivated the audience. I covered my eyes at times, peeking through my fingers. :)The Bondurant Brothers and their story was simply fascinating and not to be believed, especially the "immortal" one. Great depiction of corruption, violence that accompanies it, temptation, loyalty, love and good versus evil. I think that this film is Oscar material and as always, Jessica Chastain, Gary Oldman and Hardy give very strong and incredibly noteworthy performances. The three brothers portray their uique characters well and make for an interesting but loyal blending of this family. I would like to read the book that this movie was based on, entitled "the Wettest County in the World." Great job; no boring moments for me. The suspense kept me at the edge of my seat.
