This is a way different from the usual teen coming-of-age drama/comedy. The lead actress portraying Hera suffers for many years following the devastating farm accident which killed her beloved brother. She adopts the heavy metal subculture donning leather jackets, boots and Iron Maiden T-shirts, all the while scaring her parents and neighbours with increasingly erratic behaviour of a destructive sort. What we have is a doubly burdened young person learning to deal with her extreme grief and her burgeoning development as a woman. All of this is handled sensitively and intelligently by Icelandic director Bragason. A great character study with an honest, touching and true last sequence.
