Utterly charming road movie/dramedy finds veteran actor Bruce Dern in the role of a lfetime as pixilated Woody; an old man who still believes in miracles. Bruce has come a long way since losing his hand in Hush, Hush Sweet Charlotte. Also good are Will Forte and June Squibb as his long-suffering son and wife, respectively. There are sequences in a cemetery (of all places!) which provide chuckles and guffaws. One scene contains the funniest joke in any movie this year. I'm sure I was smiling through the entire movie and if I wasn't, I certainly was when I left the theatre. I expect academy award nominations for both Dern and Squibb. A real gem of a picture in shimmering black and white.
