I read with interest the reviewer who took their 5 year old and left unhappy. I can see their point of view. It's not so much a kid's film the way they used to make them (or still make them) There is something sublimely adult about it but its so wrapped up in cuteness so one can get lost in that aspect of it. Having been given a Paddington Bear in childhood (and he is still with me), I wanted to see how it would be done decades later. Bonneville and Kidman make the film human-wise and of course the bear is the star. The British have a knack for cinema over Americans. Maybe they will tackle another bear, Mary Plain next.
