    Pierrot, le fou

Jean Paul Belmondo is perfectly cast in this bizarre almost philosophical film " Pierrot, le Fou." IT IS SO BIZARRE HAVING TO CALL THE FILM by its ridiculous sounding English name, CRAZY PETE, as the French title is recognized world wide for many reasons. I would say this is an existential drama captured on film. We know that existence precedes essence; we know man has free will; we also know that man must create his own essence, be it good or bad by the very acts or actions he creates. He will be judged by society by the choices he makes and how he executes them. That said, he and he alone is ultimately responsible for everything done in life as he has free will. His/Her reputation hangs on this very matter. It is what we do in life that creates our essence and we will forever be known for goodness or evil in this life but in the next life as well. You should have a bare bones understanding of existentialism to get the most of this film.
