This is a good sci-fi movie. The cinematography was impressive. The opening was visually stunning. Going into this movie, I had no idea that this was a “prequel” but figured that out as the movie went along. There were very few lags in the pace of the movie although the sound/background music was feeble as it mimicked the sound track of by-gone space movies (a blend of Encounters of the third kind, Star Wars, Avatar et al) There were some issues with the storyline (and the hi-tech stuff) that undermined the overall story. All the main actors (especially the lead female- Dragon Tattoo girl) were compelling in their roles. The secondary characters were all unknowns so it was difficult to figure out the sequence of each of their inevitable demises. (Most of us sci-fi/horror movie buffs tend to guess who will die next…lol) The story unravels at a good clip and there are very few scenes of long dialog that are used to bring the audience up to speed on things. I did not see it in 3-D but would guess that some parts would be stunning. Based on the ending there may well be a sequel but this would depend on the revenue earned from this flick. It is a good movie for a big screen. It is only a sci-fi but has enough merit to be seen in a theater.
