    The Big Short

The Big Short is a tale told by necessity. When Babel is a majority position, DUCK. The telling is creatively done here, and fashions to pull the audience through a labyrinth in a keyhole.

Adam McKay directs at flurry tempo, so open the receptors and hang in there. If it were music this will be "scat-industrial" hybrid.

Some of the devices used in that assist are very "cute" and involve cameos.

It seems like "an in" at the time, but can be diverting.

Christian Bale sort of reprises his American Hustle schtick with a bit of "Rain Man" tossed in. He works it OK, too.

Ryan Gosling is bang on, in his portrayal as the worst kind of Alpha male sanctimonious SOB, one who's right!

Brad Pitt recedes into a supporting, if vital part, decent work.

The big steal in this, is the performance of Steve Carell. Solid role, played at a tone one click below "apoplectic". His best yet.

The cast is large, and intertwined. Nobody is less than on the money "pardon the pun", in their work.

The two younger traders, especially standout.

It's quite Oscar worthy in many area's, and should pull a few nominations.

Still, it's a big singular warning, broken into many pieces and I think that divergence, while entertaining and stylistic, blurs its resonance.

Still, it needs to be seen, for pointing out an exception.

Ultimately cowardice in the face of greed, still seems essential as an Ivy League MBA on Wall St, sadly.

I keep giving 8's lately, this is a worthy, punchy film, if a little frenetic.
