The most ironical aspect of this movie is the timing of its release; we're diving into another, and possibly worse, depression again. For that reason alone it's worth seeing "The Big Short" as the banksters, having got away with causing the depression of '08, are up to their old tricks and a few new ones. I wasn't sure I'd like the silly, artsy presentation of the movie, but it works surprisingly well and, as other reviewers have said, it helps to make the dry world of finance wheeling and dealing interesting to the viewer. The acting is all, in my opinion, first rate and combined with the wry, cynical humour makes for a fun movie. My one criticism is that it glossed over the role of "the Fed" and those of the WB and IMF in the criminal enterprises of the speculators.
