This is a great-looking movie with top-notch effects and scenery. There is lots of well-done action sequences and it's a truly fine adventure movie. But... Unless you see this on the heels of the first movie, I doubt that you'll get pulled into the characters very much. There isn't a lot of time for character development despite the movie's length and the story feels very pat and one-dimensional. Some religious people are thrilled by the Christian allegories in C. S. Lewis's Narnia stories, but I find that these stories raise far more questions about the nature of faith and Aslan/Christ/God's love and power than they answer. But then again I'm a Hell-bound atheist, so what do I know? NOTE FOR PARENTS: This is a dark and violent and scary movie... a lot of good guys as well as bad guys and animals get wounded or killed in the fighting and battle sequences. There's practically no blood or gore, and the horror of war isn't dwelt on, but I'd really think twice about taking a pre-teen child to see it. Also there are a lot of long talky parts in the plot development that will leave young kids squirming with boredom.
