The Expendables 3

I had modest expectations for the third film in the Expendables franchise. I wasn't a huge fan of the first Expendables movie, but I really enjoyed the sequel. From the looks of the trailers, The Expendables 3 looked like it would follow exactly the same formula as the previous two movies. Well, after seeing the movie, I could say that this was pretty much exactly the same thing as the first Expendables movie, except much worse in every way. I'm not going to bother writing down the plot. It's basically good guys vs. bad guys bang! Bang! EXPLOSION, the end. There you go, the plot of The Expendables 3. Let's start with the few good things about this movie. There were a couple of really fun action sequences, the sound effects were pretty good, there were a few funny jokes and one-liners and it felt good seeing all of these elderly action stars kicking butt again. Those things were the only good things about this movie. The worst thing about The Expendables 3 has to be the fact that it was... boring! You'd expect that a dumb action movie with countless action stars would at least be entertaining, right? Well, other than a couple of action scenes, I was totally bored by this whole movie. The dialogue was obviously terrible, with reused lines from the first two movies and laughably bad dramatic talks. The pace of this movie moves incredibly slowly, with a Waaayyy too long run-time (over 2 hours)!!! The acting was mostly awful from everybody and some of the special effects looked really cheap. Overall, The Expendables 3 is a really bad movie that makes its predecessor look like Citizen Kane. It's basically more of the same stuff except slower, duller and less fun. Rent it if you enjoyed the first one. RATING: 3.5/10.
