Hoped to see "The Finest Hours" on its first pass through the screens here.

Thank heaven, for the 2nd tier screens that extend the ability to see decent films, later.

The was a good film, well written, characters worth caring about, a huge adversity and the ultimate win-loss scenario.

Visually, impressive if a little CGI heavy.

Spiritually, it mirrors the film of its period, the mid 50's.

Chris Pine, Casey Affleck and Ben Foster were plausible, and each gave a worthy performance. Eric Bana a little tight, but the role demanded a conflict between duty, and popularity.

The cast in general, were well chosen as an ensemble gelled the story and the stresses inherent in it, with aplomb.

My real accolade must go to Holliday Grainger, who played an assertive, iron back boned woman, with great deference to the times, and situation.

My only reluctance, is an ability to accept however awful and challenging the truth was, it was over emphasized here.

The scale of adversities is oppressive, in true Disney style as if they weren't in reality enough.

It's a movie, one that can appeal to, and inspire a wide audience, so by todays standards an 8.

Seven has become average, ten non-existent, for me anyway.
