What a great movie of substance! Movies of civil rights always touch the heart and soul. Viola Davis should be up for an Oscar and has always been a captivating performer. Bryce Howard, I have never seen, but she too gave a riveting performance. Unfortunately, the horrid racism depicted in this film still exists everywhere. We will end up destroying each other despite our Godly faith. The movie brings laughter, tears and heartfelt emotions. The full audience clapped at the end and my sister and I then bought the book. It's important to read, listen and learn about all stories such as these as history has a way of repeating itself. Let the stories be told over and over again. Maybe one day, we can all live in peace. "Imagine..." (John Lennon) To any of the Black audience, the whites of Jackson and people such as these will hopefully learn to have humanity one day. There is no place for those horrific acts in our world. Kudos to the entire film, book and all those who helped and were brave enough to bring them all together, Erica Walker.
