Journey back to Middle Earth with the book that started it all. It's been many years since a LOTR movie graced the big screen and seeing another one just serves to remind what a huge void these movies fill in the modern box office. It's like spending three hours with an old friend catching up as the movie weaves a tale so different from what we're accustomed to seeing. It's a little slower and a little brighter than the LOTR movies, and that can be attributed to the overall genesis of The Hobbit, as it was envisioned as a children's book. The film is well done and is an impressive adaptation of a movie not easily converted to the big screen. The grandiose world of Middle Earth can't help but draw you in once again for another adventure.
