13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi

No one would ever accuse Michael Bay's films of being awash in nuance and 13 Hours is no exception. There is the all expected flag waving, adolescent bravado, and mortar POV shots that Bay has made a career on. Yet, this retelling of the tragic events in Libya, represents his least stupid, most adult, and most effective effort to date. Now 13 Hours has been lambasted by critics. Much like American Sniper was, but far more viciously, considering most critics already hate Bay, and don't have enough sand to attack Clint Eastwood. Well I'm here to tell you that any critic who says this movie isn't a harrowing, nail-biting, effectively intense tribute to the men who fought and died there, is worse than a liar, they're a fraud. A fraud for letting their political leanings be the arbiter of what is and what is not a good film. The dichotomy of bravery between the film's depicted heroes and these sorts of critics is enough to make you sick. You can tell Bay cared about doing these brave men proud and telling their story right, and he did just that.
