    A Christmas Carol

A Christmas Carol - 1938 - MGM This 1938 version of A Christmas Carol with an incredible performance by REGINALD OWEN as SCROOGE is one of my favourites and rivals the 1951 U. K. version with Alistair Sim. In some respects I think it is superior to the 1951 version. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer spared no expense to bring Charles Dickens's immortal tale to the screen, one of the very first filmings of the holiday classic. If for no other reason the lesson from this masterful story will make it endure forever. Might seem strange to write a review of this film in February, 2015 but I want to compare it to the brand new remastered U. K. version of 1951, just recently released.
