It's a bit sad that this film will be always known as the last P S H film. PSH surely will be greatly missed on the screen. This aside what we have here is another spy thriller from John Le Carré. Obviously you will note that it is PSH who really holds this film together, but all the performances are quite good. I'm always amazed at how different Rachel McAdams looks from one film to the next. It's uncanny! As with many Le Carré based films, the action moves deliberately at a snails pace. If you are expecting a wild, action packed thriller, this movie is not for you. It's slow pace reminds me of Le Carré's Tinker Tailor... first made with Alec Guiness and most recently with Gary Oldman who received an Oscar nomination for his role. As a final note, I would add a very big thank you to PSH for his marvellous roles... the first for me was The Talented Mister Ripley. I knew he was going to be a big, important star after seeing the film. I was right. With many Academy Award Nominations and his Oscar win for CAPOTE, I grieve we have lost another superior actor. He was a tormented soul for many, many years yet on that screen he never disappointed one with his skill as a first rate actor. RIP Mr. Hoffman.
