    Afterschool

This whole movie would have been nothing without the extraordinary performance of the young Ezra Miller who looks even younger than he's supposed to be on screen. Rob (Ezra) is a high school loner in a prep school and that's exactly the way he wants it. What makes the film take flight is that all students must participate in a class activity, Rob choosing film making of sorts. THIS IS THE REAL START OF THE FILM, as it were. In so doing he captures an incident that will change the entire dynamic at the prestigious school. Antonio Campos's film debut is very bold and audacious as it deals with many taboo subjects. But further he creates a mood of mystery and suspense in uncanny ways. Afterschool is worth anyone's time. Brilliant little film.
