    Alice Adams

One terrific film from 1935 by brilliant George Stevens about a girl from a poor family trying to impress the young man she loves. Kate Hepburn made many bad movies through the 1930's, but THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM. She's fabulous and richly deserved her Oscar Nomination for 1935. Fred MacMurray is at his best as well. Incidentally, the 1935 Oscar went to Bette Davis for DANGEROUS. I most highly recommend Alice Adams which is wonderful as a film can be, touching and very beautiful, having a dreamlike performance both from Miss Hepburn and from the film as a whole while being as realistic as it gets!
