    All About My Mother

" Todo sobre mi madre " by Pedro Almodovar is from 1999 when Almodovar was young and fresh with delightful, intelligent comedies to cheer up the cinéma. Unfortunately his last couple of films have been rotters. The whole lot of Pedro's women can be seen in TODO: Cecilia Roth, Penelope Cruz, Candela Pena, Marisa Peredes and the young Eloy Azorin who makes quite the impression as the would be writer who is determined to know who his real father happens to be. Almodovar's women, both younger and older, can be quite formidable and in Manuela, the mother of Esteban, there is no exception to the rule! The strong female presence in Almodovar's features is nothing more than Pedro's overwhelming desire to be in the sexual shoes of the dominating, dominatrix type female role in which he glories! This is a good film, one can say, but I have only so much patience and tolerance with P. A.
