    Before I Go to Sleep

First off, Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth who recently appeared together in The Railway Men with such chemistry are reunited in this thriller about a woman whose memory seems to have all but vanished. I admire Kidman and Firth in just about everything they do, even the odd bombs. This film was too short to really ensure above average character development and the entire feature seemed like many similar themed movies from the past.

( Midnight Lace with Doris Day, Rex Harrison and John Gavin, especially comes to mind. However, there are a number of pluses in Before I Go to Sleep. My response to the movie is not totally negative as it does keep you guessing and keeps you sharp and alert during the film. It's good to see Colin Firth in a part that has been waiting for him for some time. I love that Nicole has never shied away, much like Bette Davis in the past, from transforming her looks radically as in The Hours... to a very ordinary looking lady for authenticity in other roles. Neatly done! Unfortunately someone spoiled the ending for me so it was all anti-climactic. Thus my six or my score would have been a bit higher.
