Ultra super star trumpet player with exceptional good looks (Chet Baker) had one hell of a roller-coaster life filled with vice, drugs but brilliant art. Looking at his photos from later life, he is barely recognizable as that superb looking trumpeter. This said, I wanted to see this film as Chet Baker has become synonymous with 'the best in any discipline' though I am NOT that fond of jazz. It was the man who intrigued me. Ethan Hawke's take on Mr. Baker's extended riff on a jazz life is something to behold. It's too bad the film is not a widely distributed film as it will deny Ethan Hawke an Oscar Nomination for a brilliant performance. If you love JAZZ, you must see this film.
