One of Greta Garbo's truly fine talking roles in which she plays a courtesan with a heart of gold sacrificing her love for the good of the family of the man she truly loves. She was Oscar nominated for this fine role but again failed to take home Oscar. She never did win a competitive Oscar but was given one for lifetime achievement of unforgettable performances in 1954.
