I've seen a few films labelled "Christian". One in particular with Greg Kinnear was quite decent, but CAMP HARLOW where a mean, spoiled girl finds her Lord and Saviour was just a bit much to take. I myself am Christian with no intent to put down Christianity, but Camp Harlow is an unbearable film. The acting is atrociously bad so imagine what the screenplay must be like; the direction by someone called Shane Hawks is non-existent; everything seems filmed with a cheap hand held camera. It's G_d awful from beginning to end without one redeeming quality. Further, this feature is one of the preachiest if not the most preachy movie I've ever seen. It's so direct and in your face that it's quite impossible to view straight through. It's like being trapped in Church and being forced to listen to the same platitudes over and over again.
This review has nothing in the way of attacking Christianity. Being Christian, I would never be offensive to people of other faiths. Each of us has a right to one's own beliefs no matter how strong or harsh these specific beliefs happen to be. THIS mini-critique is simply one particular viewpoint on a "Christian" film that was not at all to my liking or taste.
