This film has the same feel as most hostage films but the close-quarter camera style (CCS) is not appreciated here as it is only really used in the beginning and yet in the "second vessel" that would be even more compressed, one can see much more. Not too consistent here. Suspense is tactfully executed but I feel that any one of the other supporting actors in the crew could have just as easily portrayed "Captain Phillips" character. Not a very demanding role for Hanks. A history of the loyalty of the crew creating emotional ties would have enhanced this yarn that seems to presuppose some unknowns for the audience. The tactical conclusion was excessively overdrawn in multiple bouncing back and forth and the repeated lines "I need three greens" got a little stupid.
