I found that the subject matter, very delicate for that era, was tastefully dealt with. I appreciated that high level of sensitivity. The acting was faultless, Cate Blanchett's costumes are off the charts, makes one want to go back to the fifties, minus the girdles of course... I would have rated it higher but I found it to be a bit long, slow to get off the ground and rather predictable in a roundabout way. But quite the love story nonetheless, I don't think I've ever seen Cate Blanchett demonstrate such a high level of sensitivity in her roles before.
