    CBGB

English acting great Alan Rickman stars as true life N. Y. C. night club impresario Hilly Kristal who created for awhile a punk wave in his Lower East Side establishment. The period had to be during the 80's when punk was at its height. All of this underground nonsense didn't last very long. The entire premise of the film is ' to fill his "joint" with untried talent, ' many of who went on to great fame. Though Rickman is a fine actor, I've never been a particular fan, nor am I a fan of the music he presented. So, by and large, I would consider this film a true waste of time. Nothing interested me. Rickman, to be fair, does a decent cover for Hilly Crystal so my original 1 is becoming a big fat 2.
