Edward G. Robinson has never been better than this role in Confessions of a Nazi Spy directed by the great Anatole Litvak from 1939. But then he never gave a bad performance! Three other great actors of the era grace the screen: Oscar Winner Paul Lucas, Francis Lederer and George Sanders. This is very much a film that reflected its period of 1939, the year WW II broke out becoming almost a propoganda type film. Yet even in 2015, this thriller truly holds up well for a feature made 76 years ago. It did teach me a thing or two.
