[...] It's a re-telling of another, slightly older film about the supposed origin of Dracula as Vlad the Impaler, an implacable foe of the Turkish Empire in Europe. The acting is good, the story is well told and the special effects are not too obnoxious, albeit a wee bit overdone. There is obviously a sequel planned for a story of Dracula in the 21st century, and it looks promising, too. This was not a horror movie so much as a medieval fantasy/adventure story, but it was a lot of fun and the (mostly young) audience liked it enough to applaud it at the end. Take your date and buy some popcorn... with blood topping.
