A work of visual beauty and Cate Blanchett's brilliance in her first Oscar nominated performance as Elizabeth I. She lost to Gwyneth Paltrow for Shakespeare in Love which shocked more than a few people. Cate has since won 2 Oscars and been nominated for several others. Ms Blanchett is joined by Oscar Winner Geoffrey Rush in this gripping historical thriller full of suspense, intrigue and adventure all centered in the great figure of the Queen, in what we now refer to as the Elizabethan Age!
