    Ernest et Célestine

Ernest and Celestine (Ernest et Célestine) is an extraordinary back to basics French piece of animation, nominated as best animated feature. It uses both hand drawn figures and computer graphics as the background. The watercolour drawings are a pure joy to see especially after years and years of complete digital animation. What is truly delightful about this film is the humanity of warmth and love between two creatures (a mouse and a bear) diametrically opposed to one another. E and C is so sincere that it's impossible not to fall in love with it. The music adds to the overall feel-good quality inherent in the film - especially the final song which I heard in French, 'La Chanson d'Ernest et Célestine' by Thomas Fersen. It adds just a bit of extra love! The voice overs both in the original French and the English version are remarkable. This is a film, as they say, for 'kids of all ages.' Magnifique! Bravo!
